>> Facebook Integration
Harness the power of social applications.
Over the last two years Facebook has revolutionised the way people interact on the web and the network now has 8.9 million users in the UK alone. Facebook will continue this trend with its next evolution called Facebook Connect.
Facebook Connect will allow users of your site to:
- Seamlessly connect their Facebook account and information with your site
- Connect and find their friends who also use your site
- Share information and actions on your site with their friends on Facebook
So what does this mean?
Other than providing users with a new level of interactivity on your website the implications are far reaching. Here are just a couple of possibilities:
- What if, instead of making people go through a registration process on your site, you make it easy for them and let them just login using their facebook account?
(Every step in a registration process reduces the number of registrants.) - What if, everytime a purchase is made on your site the customer has the option to automatically post the details about the great deal they just got so all their friends can see?
Functionality like this could make a huge difference to the usability and public perception of your website.
Facebook has given developers access to a test environment since August 2008 and we plan to be able to offer integrated facebook applications as soon as facebook connect is fully launched and open to the public (estimated start of 2009).
